The outputs of the project have reached an international community of teachers.
Do you remember the Bioprofiles project? If you do, and if you don't, we have amazing news. Thanks in part to many of our teachers who participated in the trainings and collaborated on individual investigations, measurements, and deliverables, the project has been added to the SCIENTIX community. We are very proud that our materials can be used not only by Slovak teachers but also by teachers from abroad. We hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity and be inspired by the valuable content provided by this community. And if you like, you can join our other projects.
Scientix is Europe's leading science education community, aiming to foster and promote pan-European collaboration between STEM teachers and educational researchers. The portal was launched in 2010 on the initiative of the European Commission and European Schoolnet, which has been leading the programme since its inception. If you are looking for inspiration, you can find almost 3,000 materials directly on the site to support innovation in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) teaching, with the latest addition being our Bioprofiles project materials.
What is a STEM or Science subject anyway?
STEM is an innovative form of teaching. It is a stand-alone subject that combines selected educational content from mathematics, technology education, engineering and is delivered in the form of scientific inquiry. In addition to traditional face-to-face teaching, it makes extensive use of online and hands-on learning. Frequent experiments or practical demonstrations by experts are typical. Well-designed STEM education content should encourage discussion and problem solving among students, develop practical skills and value collaboration. A recent innovation is STEAM, which additionally integrates selected educational content from the Human and the Arts.
